Pirates of the Caribbean has proved to be more successful overseas than in the US, grossing over $500 million internationally, a new box office record.

It is thought that two-thirds of the film�s earnings have come from abroad, after the film caused an average stir domestically.

Stateside, Spider-Man 3 is still winning the battle of 2007. However with Shrek The Third out and about, as well as The Simpsons Movie and Transformers on its way, that title is still up for grabs.
