Rumours have emerged today that Pirates of the Caribbean actress Keira Knightley is being lined up to play Princess Diana.
The film, which is based on a book written from a paparazzi point-of-view, has had producers at Cannes fighting each other to get their hands on the rights.
The book is written by Glenn Harvey and Mark Saunders, who always believed photographers were unjustly vilified in the wake of the Princess death, wrote a book about their relationship with the Princess. Obviously the film would be a different side of a well known story, similar to the plotline The Queen took.
Unofficial rumblings in Cannes make this project a potential goldmine, with one producer anonymously telling joblo.com: for every dollar The Queen made, a movie about Diana would make ten.
Theres no doubting that an accurate portrayal of the Princess would draw crowds, and it may be the heavyweight role Knightley has been looking for.
With the 10th anniversary of the Princess death in August, Hollywood is ruthlessly looking to capitalise on the popularity of the late Royal.
