Coronation Street star, Tina OBrien, has revealed for the first time how the pressures of fame left her suffering from debilitating panic attacks.
Talking exclusively to the Daily Mirror, OBrien reveals how the attacks became so severe following a terrifying burglary and discovering she was the target of a stalker that she was unable to leave her Manchester home.
My panic attacks were so bad I couldnt even go to the supermarket, she says. The attacks were mild at first. But they built up and until I started avoiding the places where I had them. It was horrific.
It was to do with people staring at me and wanting to talk to me.
With the help of a life coach, OBrien has been able to overcome her fears.
OBrien, 23, joined Coronation Street at 16 and went on to win the prestigious Best Newcomer award at the 2000 National Television Awards.
She has since left the soap, and is set to appear as Cinderella in panto later this year.
