Break likely to be a lenghty one...

Orlando Bloom has announced that he is quit film for the time being, and will instead embrace Buddhism in a bid to get his life back in order.

The star of 'Lord Of The Rings' has admitted that his life had turned into a "white knuckle ride".

Speaking to The Mirror her said: "The philosophy I've embraced isn't about sitting under a tree and studying my navel. It's about studying what's going on in my life and using the fuel to go on and live a bigger life"

Bloom chants daily, and follows Soka Gakka Buddhism, which is a powerful Japanese movement.

"Now I just want some time and space from everything and the phone and the communication" he added.

He'll next be seen in the third 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' film. After that, who knows?

  • Oh Christ, my best got into Buddhism and I didn't see her for almost three years. She shaved her head and everything. She did come out okay in the end though, although nothing is negative anymore, so that makes it tough for me. Orlando will find his path as he prostrates himself in front of the Buddha of his choice and eventually he'll get up and move on.

  • I am a big fan of Orlando and I love to watch his movies and although I feel disappointed that he will not be making any movies for the meantime, I do agree that he needs some quiet and peaceful time after all the work he's been through so far. I am a buddhist myself and I hope Orlando will be able to find what he is looking for thru Buddhism.

  • I wish these people would get their facts right. Orlando has been a Buddhist since he was 19, he hasn't suddenly taken it up, and it isn't the reason he is taking a break. The man is burnt out and jaded from being totally disrespected by crap journalists like this that get facts wrong.

  • Take to mind that this guy has built up so many things through out the years. I know he loves his career, every actor goes through this though. Oh and I thought he became a buddhist in 2004(?). I follow Orlando's career, I'm pretty sure that's when he got into it. Anyway, I respect his way of life and whatever is going to get him back into movies sounds good to me!
