The Bee Gees are being honoured with the icon gong at the BMI Music Awards this May.
The British pop act who have had hits spanning four decades will pick up the coveted award at the May 15 ceremony in Los Angeles.
They join the likes of James Brown, Dolly Parton, Paul Simon and Carlos Santana who have all picked up the honour.
The BMI (Broadcast Music Incorporated) said they were awarded The Bee Gees because of their �unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers.�
The outfit have received a total of 109 BMI awards in their sprawling career, most notably for song of the year with �Saturday Night Fever.�
The Bee Gees have sold in excess of 110million records and have had nine number ones. Maurice Gibb died aged 53 in January 23 after complications during an operation for an intestinal blockage.
