Diana Ross appeared as guest coach with the top 12 finalists on American Idol last night, and will return tonight to perform.
The pop icon will perform songs form the Diana Ross and the Supremes songbook.
Ross was guest coach last night in a show that saw Melinda Doolittle and LaKisha Jones shine. Both competitors were described by Simon Cowell as at a completely different level to their ten competitors.
Jordin Sparks also managed to impress, with Diana praising her for her enthusiasm, describing her as having the ''glitter, the shine'' needed to be a star.
Chris Sligh didn�t fare so well however, with Paula Abdul saying that with his performance of �Endless Love� Sligh was trying ''ultra hard to be ultra hip and cool''
The 12 contestants will discover tonight who has made it through to next week�s round.
