A battle is ensuing in Hollywood regarding two conflicting sequels to the REAL best film of 1997 (some film about a ship beat it to Best Picture Oscar), LA Confidential.

The conflict has risen due to two camps wanting to make two different versions of what happened after the events of the first film. Director Joe Carnahan (Narc, Smokin' Aces) is hoping to make a film version of White Jazz, the sequel to the original LA Confidential novel, written by James Ellroy.

Now the original crew of the LA Confidential film (with us so far?), including Curtis Hanson and possibly the stars Guy Pearce and Russell Crowe, are keen to make their own sequel to the film.

So after prequels, sequels to prequels, and prequels of remakes of prequels, we may have two films about exactly the same thing!!!
