Elvis Presley To Be Re-Erected In Hawaii
Hawaii is to erect a life-size statue of Elvis Presley in July, marking the 30th anniversary of his death.

The bronze statue will feature Elvis wearing a white jeweled jumpsuit, the same costume he wore in the iconic 1973 concert Aloha From Hawaii.

The Aloha gig is so famous as it was the first musical event to be televised live by satellite worldwide. More than a billion people are said to have seen it, in over 40 countries.

Elvis remains an idol and a hero to so many of us, Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann told the BBC. Hawaii considers him an adopted son.

As well as the Aloha gig Elvis also made several films in Hawaii.

Mayor Hannemann added: Elvis will forever remain a part of Hawaii's identity. From his film, Blue Hawaii, to his 1961 benefit performance to raise money for the USS Arizona Memorial to the historic concert which the sculpture commemorates.
