Factory Records founder Tony Wilson has been diagnosed with cancer after a routine check up with his doctor.
The Manchester based music mogul had surgery to remove a kidney last month a now faces further treatment for the disease.
According to the BBC during the check up his doctor identified that there was something ?seriously wrong? with his right lung.
After having the lung drained it was revealed that his right kidney had been ?completely consumed by cancer."
He will now undergo two five-day treatment sessions at Manchester?s Christie hospital.
Wilson was the brains behind Factory Records which launched the careers of many Manchester bands including Joy Division, New Order and The Happy Mondays.
He also co-founded the legendary Hacienda nightclub and his life was brought to the big screen in the 2002 movie 24 Hour Party People.
