Former pop singer Jo O'Meara denied she was racist after being evicted from the Big Brother house last night.
The ex-S Club star denied accusations she behaved in a racist manner towards Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty in the house, after being shown footage which had contributed to the reality TV show making international headlines in the past weeks.
Jo said in her post-eviction interview, "I'm not a racist person at all. I mean my cousin is married to an Indian man for one and my cousins are half Indian and their family's with me all the time."
She added, "It's not because I'm racist of Shilpa at all. I think she's a very beautiful very elegant woman. In life you can't be expected to be put in a house with a lot of different people and everybody's just gonna go and bang click straight away.
"I didn't dislike Shilpa but I wasn't as close to her as say I was to Danielle or to Cleo. I found it hard and I didn't trust her for a long time."
