Richard Hammond revealed he still cant remember the fortnight after his horror crash in his first TV interview since the accident.
The Top Gear presenter who crashed a jet-powered car at almost 300mph during filming for the show earlier this year told Jonathan Ross last night that he was completely recovered from the accident, but still had almost total memory loss of the aftermath.
He said, I swore and then it went dark. I was driving and then it was two weeks later and I was in Leeds (in hospital).
"I have no recollection of that, or the first few weeks. I sort of heard stuff going on but I wasn't in it (a coma) for very long."
Hammond - who appeared on good form throughout the interview - raised laughs though when he explained the funny-side of one of the immediate side-effects of the crash.
"I had post-traumatic amnesia, five-second memory, it happens as a result of brain injury, he explained. In hospital I was completely useless. I'd look at the menu and order my favourite, cottage pie. Five minutes later it arrived and I said, 'That's great, it's my favourite, how did you know?'
