Mel has employed the services of $500 an hour lawyer Don Engel to prove that the baby she is currently carrying is Murphy�s.
The couple started dating earlier this year and within weeks Mel fell pregnant. The couple seemed to very happy together, but Murphy revealed on Dutch TV that they had split at that he was not sure whether the baby was even his.
However, Mel has vowed that it is and is prepared for the baby to take a DNA test to prove its paternity.
A friend of Mel�s told the Mirror: �Mel is refusing to lie down and let Eddie walk all over her � and this is reflected in her choice of lawyer.
�She wants to hit him where it hurts�in the pocket and they don�t come much better than Don.�
It is believed that Mel may be able to rinse Eddie for as much as $15million in lifelong payments for their child.
The friend added: �A reconciliation is probably out of the question after he humiliated her in such a way on television.
�She has been devastated by what happened � especially since they had talked about marriage. This is war � and if Eddie doesn�t know it, he will very shortly.�
