Kate Winslet And Dame Helen Mirren Nominated For Golden Globe Awards

Numerous British actresses and actors have been nominated for Golden Globe Awards.

Dame Helen Mirren has been short listed for her roles in �The Queen�, �Prime Suspect� and �Elizabeth 1�.

She said of the nomination: "This has been an unprecedented year for me,"

Fellow British actress Kate Winslet is also up for the Best Actress award for her role in �Little Children� but says she expects Mirren to win: "It's just wonderful," she said.

"It still feels like the first time it has happened. I can't tell how happy I feel about this."

She added of Mirren: "She deserves it. That film is extraordinary."

Others tipped to win the Best Actress award include Dame Judi Dench, nominated for her role �Notes on a Scandal�.

She said she was "incredibly grateful that the HFPA (Hollywood Foreign Press Association) has been able to see past my sinister deeds".

Funnyman Sacha Baron Cohen is nominated for his role as Kazakhstan journalist Borat, he said of his nomination: "I have been trying to let Borat know this great news, but for the last four hours both of Kazakhstan's telephones have been engaged,"

"Eventually, Premier Nazarbayev answered and said he would pass on the message."

The winners of the Golden Globes will be announced at a star studded ceremony in Los Angeles on 15 January.
