Dodi Al Fayed's Uncle Denies He And Princess Diana Were Engaged

The uncle of Dodi Al Fayed has claimed that his nephew and Diana were not engaged when they met their deaths in Paris, but that Dodi was planning to propose.

The father of Dodi, Mohammed Al Fayed has maintained since his sons death that he had given Diana a 230,000 engagement ring, that Diana was four weeks pregnant with Dodis baby and that the couple were about to announce their engagement when they died.

Mohammed Al Fayed believes that his son and Diana were murdered by agents of the crown desperate to stop Diana from marrying Dodi.

However, Dodis uncle Hassan Yassin has claimed that Dodi phoned him from the Paris Ritz just hours before being killed in the car crash.

According to the Mirror Yassin said: He just said he was going to propose; only he was thinking to propose.

I told him not to lose this girl. He replied: I am going to propose.

Yassin added: Look, there is one Diana in the world. If she was there at the time and the moment was right, I think it is a decision between them both.

Everybodys speculating that he was going to propose. Nobody really knows the true story.

The only two who knew are the ones not with us today. Its all water under the bridge whether he proposed or didnt propose. Sadly, there was a foolish accident that took place. They are not with us.

The official report into the deaths of Diana and Dodi will be released by Lord Stevens today.
