Corrie bosses are happy to help actors suffering from addictions but they are also keen to ensure that actors are truly on the straight and narrow.
An insider told the Sun: Its common practice that if someone has been in a similar situation to Craig we carry out tests.
If you give somebody a chance then that person has to accept the company wants to keep an eye on them.
The company has a duty of care to keep an eye on somebody and check theyre ok. The company has a fully qualified medical team on hand for anything, so it is fairly easy to do.
Craig Charles was just one of many actors who have been helped with addictions in the past. Jimmi Harkishin, Tracy Shaw and Simon Gregson have all suffered from addictions in the past.
