Emmerdale's Ben Freeman Protests His Innocence

The Emmerdale star charged with raping a teenage girl in Barbados, Ben Freeman, has denied all claims and is protesting his innocence.

Freeman is due in court today where he will deny all claims made by the 16 year old British girl who was residing in the same hotel and Freeman and his family when the alleged incident occurred.

Leaving the office of his lawyer Desmond Sands, Freeman said: Im not saying anything. Itll all come out in court.

Sands added: Hell plead not guilty because he is innocent.
Freeman, who plays Scott Windsor in the Yorkshire soap was staying at the Almond Beach Village Hotel when the alleged incident occurred. Since being charged with rape Freeman has had his passport taken away and has been ordered to stay on the island.

A fellow holiday maker saw Freeman and a young girl having sex on a sun lounger last Wednesday; he claims that the young girl appeared drunk and was left on the lounger by Freeman before returning to her room.

It is believed that the girls parents contacted authorities on the island after she claimed to have been raped. However, other guests at the posh hotel claim to have seen the girl sun bathing before she returned back to the UK.

One hotel guest told the Sun yesterday: It is strange you would have thought that after something as traumatising as that she would have wanted to get as far away from here as possible.

Emmerdale bosses are now considering whether or they will be forced to suspend Freeman from his acting job on the soap.
An ITV insider said: It will be D-Day. We are waiting to see what the court says. We think the charges will be dropped.

If not, we will have no option but to suspend him.

Freeman was also supposed to be appearing on the new series of SoapStar Superstar it is as yet unknown if he will still be taking part.
