Australian singer and artist Rolf Harris has publicly apologised for the racist lyrics in one of his oldest songs, Tie Your Kangaroo Down Sport.
The song is a live favourite but Rolf has felt the need to explain that he is uncomfortable singing one verse of the song that he believes is detrimental to Aborigines.
The verse in question says: Let me Abos go loose, Lew; theyve got no further use, Lew.
Speaking during a radio interview, Rolf has admitted that the lyrics he wrote in the 1950s, when he was a much younger man, are very racist.
As a 76 year old Rolf professes to have great respect and love for the Aborigines; he added: At the time, I was 27 or something when I wrote that. But since 1960 I have never sung that verse.
Good.
