Emmerdale's Ben Freeman Charged With Rape In Barbados

Emmerdale star Ben Freeman has been charged with raping a 16 year old British girl whilst on holiday with his family in Barbados.

Freeman, who plays Scott Windsor in the Yorkshire soap was staying at the Almond Beach Village Hotel when the alleged incident occurred.

It is believed that the teenager and her family were holidaying in the same complex; Freeman has had his passport taken away and has been ordered to stay on the island.

A fellow holiday maker saw Freeman and a young girl having sex on a sun lounger last Wednesday; he claims that the young girl appeared drunk and was left on the lounger by Freeman before returning to her room.

It is believed that the girl?s parents contacted authorities on the island after she claimed to have been raped. However, other guests at the posh hotel claim to have seen the girl sun bathing before she returned back to the UK.

One hotel guest told the Sun: ?It is strange ? you would have thought that after something as traumatising as that she would have wanted to get as far away from here as possible.?

Freeman is currently being looked after by his lawyer on Barbados, his family have returned to the UK and his mother said of his predicament: ?Of course we all think he?s 100% innocent.

?We don?t want to say any more at the moment until we know what is happening.?

The maximum sentence for rape in Barbados is a life sentence.
