Soccer star Wayne Rooney has signed a new contract with Manchester United which will make him the highest-ever earning British player.

The 21-year-old has signed up for another six years at United, which, when added together with his commercial work, will net him up to �100 million.

His salary alone over that period will be �35 million, as well as TV advertising deals, product endorsements and a book publishing deal.
