This evening all the contestants performed songs from hit movies and for a change there were some good performances. Ben and Leonna stood out this week.
Ben pulled out a fantastic rendition of �Live and Let Die� and Leona held her voice for a flawless performance of �I Will Always Love You�. Even Ray�s first performance was well sung!
However, it�s my opinion that Simon shot Ray in the foot! It�s lucky he got through at all as his second song played on the �Elvis impersonator� jibes when Ray sang �Jailhouse Rock�. He thrusted and wiggled like there was no tomorrow - he definitely did not make the song his own. Elvis Lived!
Sadly Eton Road faltered in their performance through sheer nerves. Some areas of their performances were cracking, though others were shakey and off key.
If my head was turned at any point it was by the MacDonald Brothers!
Louis really came through for them on the song choice because when they sang �Hundred Miles� by The Proclaimers the crowd was up in arms. They loved it and so did I.
The boys really seem to be coming out of their shell and it�s encouraging and endearing. It�s no wonder they got the votes to go through!
Personally I thought that Ray would be in the final two but unfortunately it was Eton Road or Ben for the chop!
It�s a real shame when you know some acts should be out by now and these talented acts should live to fight another day. Louis may have shot himself in the foot with the voters by offering Eton Road management after the competition.
Why would people vote for them to win?
When both Sharon and Louis voted for their respective acts, the final vote was left to Simon.
Now Simon had a tricky problem here... (Allegedly) Ben has made allegations this week that Simon is steering the public to vote for Leonna in the final, as he has chosen a song to suit a female voice as the final release. Is the competition fixed?
Simon referred to this before he voted, saying, "There is a certain irony tonight after certain things that have been written this week. As a mentor do I vote out an artist who I think is the biggest threat, or keep the act I think is the most talented?"
Begrudgingly he sent home Eton Road and saved Ben. Bye guys - you were fun! With the promise of management from Louis and a huge fan base I think we�ll be seeing you again.
What with all the allegations of fixing, I think the press coverage would have been overwhelmingly against Leonna if Simon had voted out Ben (and he knew this!). They need to rethink the final song for release if it more suited to a female � it�s just not fair!
