Simon Cowell ends his dreams...
Well what a night! Six acts remaining and only one female left standing in the competition. All three judges are on a level playing field with two acts left in the competition but by the end of tonight who will be left with only one?
Performance wise I wasnt blown away this week and once again thought the song choices were lame! They had Ray sing Livin La Vida Loca just so he wasnt doing another swing number, which came across as a poor Elvis impersonation. Sort your hair out Ray! Its not 1950!
Then there was Leona with the same old same old. She can really sing but if I hear another ballad (sheesh!) and to top it off Eton Road fell flat on their face with a tuneless version of Scissor Sisters, Dont Feel Like Dancing. I have to say that much as Anthony is very individual Im afraid the nerves get to him and his voice is unpredictable on the live shows. One minute its like he has the voice of an angel and the next he squeaks like a mouse thats been stepped on and it hurts my ears. At the moment its Dan who actually stands out vocally in the band.
Both Robert and Ben stole the show for me with heartfelt genuine performances as always
With the public votes in and counted it was a shock result with Liverpools favourite Eton Road and Robert facing the sing off. Simon said he was looking for a lot of grovelling off both acts but promised to make his decision based on their performances.
I dont think Robert should have been in the bottom two but wasnt surprised that Eton Road were there. I was gobsmacked that Ray and the Macdonald Brothers are still in! They should be fighting it out between them! Both acts redeemed themselves with improved performances in the sing off but it wasnt enough for one act.
With Sharon and (a very emotional) Louis choosing to save their own act it was all down to Simon who chose to send home Robert. A very gracious Robert said: This show has given me a new lease of life and it wont be the last that you see of me.
Guest stars gave their critique on tonights acts and all the Westlife boys praised Leonas performance but Delta Goodrem was backing Scottish act the MacDonald Brothers! Whatever next!
