The Game was arrested for impersonating a police officer on Thursday after telling a taxi driver he was an undercover cop.

The rapper � real name Jayceon Taylor - reportedly jumped into the back of a taxi after recording the Late Show with David Letterman in New York and convinced the driver to run a series of red lights, before finally being pulled over by real police 13 blocks later.

However, The Game�s lawyer, Jeffrey Lichtman, claims the incident - which will come to court on 12 December - was due to �harassment�.

He tells the Associated Press, �This is really a new low even for the NYPD. It's a big joke to harass him and other members of the hip-hop community, and ultimately arresting him. Let's see how funny they think it is during the cross-examinations of this trial."

The hip-hop star is currently being sued by five police officers who arrested him last year for defamation after he compared his treatment to that of Rodney King, who was famously videotaped being beaten up by LAPD officers (who were amazingly then found not guilty, causing South Central to go up in smoke).
