Ben Affleck Regrets Jennifer Lopez Engagement

And the nightmare that was Bennifer...

Wednesday 15th Nov 2006

Actor Ben Affleck has revealed that he seriously regrets his high profile engagement to Jennifer Lopez.

The couple were engaged to be married in 2004, but just months before they were due to marry, the whole affair was called off and since then both parties have kept their mouths shut as to why.

Now that Affleck is back in the limelight to promote his new film ?Hollywoodland? he has once again been asked to spill the beans on his relationship with the singer/actress.

According to FemaleFirst, Affleck said recently: "I should never have got engaged and never gone down that route. I thought I wanted certain things, but I didn't. I got lost and felt suffocated, miserable and gross.

"Being in the middle of a tabloid frenzy, it became so intense I had to stop and think, 'What am I doing with my life?' "I had to smile for the cameras, but I was really in turmoil. I was no longer in control of my life and I didn't know which way to turn. I felt like a hamster in a cage. The faster my legs went, the less distance I seemed to travel".

Now, Affleck is happily married to actress Jennifer Garner and they have one child, Violet together.

All turned out all right in the end then?

  • Yeah sure, Ben. Crawling into bed with J.Lo night after night after night after night must have been an arduous and unsatisfying experience. You poor, lost soul. Glad you’ve come to your senses.

  • I always thought they were totally mismatched! Personally I can’t stand JLo, she is highly overrated and too stuck on herself, talk about a lot of hot air. I’ll bet Ben was miserable, she’s a no talent nobody anyway. The guy she is married to now, suits her much better. Ben made out much better!

  • I can’t stand JLo but I think Ben saying this about her now is really a cheap shot & totally unecessary.

  • I think she really loved and wanted to marry him and I think he didn’t love her as much. So when he broke it off she went to where she was wanted and that was to Marc Anthony. He loves her they she wishes Ben had loved her.

  • Another great tactic Ben for that Oscar prospect. Trivialize your entire past that once meant something to you, so you could look brand new and reformed. Have pictures taken with your baby and pretend that your madly in love with your wife. Way to go, jackass!
