Bono Defends Madonna's Adoption Of African Baby

U2s Bono has defended Madonnas decision to adopt a child from Malawi.

Since bringing baby David home form the African country Madge has come under fire for adopting a child from Malawi; with some saying that she should have left the child in his own culture and done something to help the countrys economy.

However, speaking before his gig in Sydney recently, Bono told the Sun: Madonna should be applauded for helping top take a child out of out of the worst poverty imaginable and giving him a better chance in life.

Baby David is so lucky to have been adopted by someone who can give him a chance of survival in this world and I dont think its fair that people are criticising her.

About 20 years ago when my wife Ali and I went to Africa, shortly after Live Aid, a man who quite clearly loved his child came up to us and begged us to take him.

It is heart breaking but he asked up to take his child home with us because he couldnt feed him. This happens all the time in parts of Africa where unthinkable poverty means people simply cant feed their children.
