It has been revealed that the late actress Adrienne Shelly died after taking her own life last week.
Shelly, 40, was found hanging from a shower rod in the bathtub of her Greenwich Village apartment by her devastated husband Andy Ostny.
The New York Post reports that although police feel Shelly did kill herself, they are still investigating some mysterious aspects of the ongoing case.
In recent years Shelly had focused on writing and directing rather then acting; she had recently written and directed Waitress starring Keri Russell and Nathan Fillion which was about to be released.
Her agent Rachel Sheedy said of Shelly: "She was incredibly creative and a tremendously prolific writer, and I don't know, she was the girl you'd go to if you were sad,"
"She was an incredibly beautiful woman.
Shelly is survived by her husband and their three year old daughter Sophie.
