Golden Oldies Win Big At Q Awards

Proving that the magazine is firmly entrenched in the past, it was the golden oldies who all won big at the Q Awards last night.

Smokey Robinson received the Outstanding Contribution to Music Gong, while Jeff Lynne and The Who got the Icon and Legend awards respectively.

Elsewhere, the Lifetime Achievement award was handed to Peter Gabriel, Culture Clubs Karma Chameleon scooped the Classic Song gong, while A-Ha were given the Inspiration award.

Oasis and U2 were both double winners, while Take That, Faithless, Arctic Monkeys and Gnarls Barkley were also honoured.

Paul Rees, editor of Q Magazine, said: The Q Awards recognises both the essential music of the past year and that which has enriched and shaped the whole of our musical lives.

In handing out four awards between Oasis and U2, Q magazine and its readers have once again re-stated the high regard in which we hold them both.

Yawn.
