A 30-year-old man in America has filed a lawsuit against Green Day claiming that he wrote their entire American Idiot album.
Paul McPike who works in a grocery store in Oregan claims that he wrote the material when he was a teenager in college.
He says that he used to perform original version of tracks such as Jesus of Suburbia to friends when he was studying.
McPike alleges that a disgruntled friend leaked the material to Billy Joe Armstrong and co. before they used it as the basis for the album.
However, the case will not be going to court yet after a District Judge ruled that it had insufficient evidence.
McPike handed in a what he claims is a copy of the album with differing lyrics to those on the sleeve notes. He was told to report back if he managed to collect a more detailed pile of evidence.
