Kooks singer Luke Pritchard has refused to let his throat go under the knife so he can retain his unique singing voice.
The frontman had to cancel several British gigs earlier this month with a double whammy of laryngitis and tonsillitis, and was warned he may have to have his tonsils removed if he continued singing.
However, plucky Pritchard necked loads of pills instead, so he could brave the pain barrier and hit the road again tonsils intact.
He croaks, The specialist said that if I carried on singing, the tonsillitis would keep coming back and I would get something called chronic tonsillitis, where you have to have your tonsils out.
"If you have them out, it changes the sound of your voice. Obviously I wasn't gonna. I wanted to get back on tour. Instead, they gave me loads of Vicodin and anti-biotics. I was in a lot of pain."
