David and Victoria Beckham are grieving today over the death of their former bodyguard Merrick McDonald.
Merrick quit his job with the Beckham�s in Madrid to travel to Iraq and work for a security firm there.
He was escorting a high level US government worker to a diplomatic building in Baghdad when a car bomb exploded taking his life.
Merrick, a former marine and policeman worked with the Beckham�s as their security chief and became very close to the family.
A source told the Mirror: �He was almost a member of the family, he was that close. In particular Posh would put absolute trust in him.
�We told him he was crazy quitting a cushy lifestyle with the stars to put his life on the line but he said the pay was better.�
Merrick is survived by his wife Michelle.
