X Factor - Down to 11
Last night was the first of the live shows. Its Motown night and all were on form and raring to go! It was a cracker!

Up first, Robert sang All Night Long. He danced around like James brown and sang like a pro. The judges gave fabulous feedback, Simon could only say that was fantastic! Breaking down Robert thanked the judges for the opportunity, as he cried he told them just how important this was to him. Then again its no surprise he was emotional, his girlfriend is now seven and half months pregnant and he says he cant wait to sing live and to be a dad!

Eton Road sang My Girl. Simon said it wasnt bad, it was pretty good. He likes that the lead singer looks odd. The problem was that Simon didnt like the old time choreography that Louis had them doing. I have to admit myself that I think the styling was wrong! They are really individual looking boys and should be dressed younger and far more urban and fresh, like they were in the auditions.

Nikitta sang Heaven Must Have Sent You and although nervous, showed off her fantatic voice! Louis didnt like the song but thought that Nikittas talent was unquestionable. Simon said he was evil to pass comment on the song and stated that he doesnt want to turn seventeen year olds into seventy year olds like Louis! Ouch!

Bens up next and he sings Tracks Of My Tears. He held up so well (considering he could have been so nervous because of the bad press this week connecting him to a drug habit) but he wasnt phased, good for you Ben! Louis said Youre like a young Rod Stewart, absolutely amazing! Sharon You delivered. You were great Simon possibly one of the best contestants weve had Ben replied I like Simon the more I talk to him. Simon finished with we need a singer like this in this country. Go on Lad!

The McDonald Brothers sang Three Times A Lady Bless em! A nervous start led to them giving it some welly at the end. Louis told them they had great voices and talent, but Sharon disagreed and said they needed personality and had no stage presence.
I have to agree that it was a little quieter than the others but wasnt that bad. Simon said it was Boring, Boring, Boring. Nuff said. The boys replied by stating If we are given the chance, you will see what we can do. We enjoyed every minute of it.

Ray Quinns performance was anticipated. As a charmer, can he be cheeky and not cheesy? Hes full of energy and a game kinda lad, needless to say I was disappointed that they chose Ben by Michael Jackson for him rather than something upbeat! Ben? Are you serious Simon! Anyway the performance wasnt bad and did show off a vocal talent and vulnerability that was unseen in the auditions. Louis said You havent got a voice like some in the competition; you need to work on your vocals. Sharon said that mums would love him, which is true and Simon agreed saying the important thing was that it was believable and it worked - it did, but they will have to work on vocals.

Next up in our myriad of musical marvels (oooh!) is Dionne. All the way though the auditions she was nervous and lacked confidence, but now its all change. She gave a belting performance of Im Gonna Make You Love Me. The crowd were bopping along and she really looked the part in a lil red sixties number with the fiery attitude to match!
Louis loved her, he was reminded of a young Diana Ross and said it was the best performance of the night. Sharon was so proud and Simon said although stiff, vocally she was incredible. If you lived in America you would not have had to enter this competition because your voice is amazing!

The Unconventionals were next? A little quirky and different many ask should they be in the competition my view is yes! The competition is about that special something and these guys are really individual and fresh! They sang Dancing In The Street and it was unusual to say the least but it worked (and I dont know why?) I guess theyre like when youve had too many beers and then slap anything you have in the cupboard onto a butty. All the different ingredients shouldnt make anything tasty but sometimes they do! They are kinda like that. Again Louis loved them and said they were great (get some new lines Louis!) Sharon thought they were too much but were very good vocally. Simon didnt like the choice of song and said it was a mess! As well as the act, he blamed Louis. Surprise, Surprise!

Ashley sang Easy. He has a very unusual voice but is so magnetic in person. Louis agreed and said you made it your own, youre one to watch! Sharon said he was special and joked how he could wear a granny cardi and a string of pearls and make it look cool. Simon was obviously pleased with his acts performance, you have charisma and star quality thank god you are in this show!

Kerry Sharon she deserves to be there not for anything else but because shes her.
Singing You are the Sunshine of my Life acapella to begin with, followed by a real smooth and sincere performance uplifting and vocally precise. Louis thought the performance was great and so did Sharon, but Simon didnt like the song and thought that it was like being in a 70s bar, but blamed the arrangement. He said that Kerry is better than songs like that and said she needs to be challenged every time and show off her voice every performance.

With it being Motown night I was looking forward to 4Sures performance. Known for their classic harmonies they sang What becomes of the Broken Hearted and did it well. There were a few tuning problems as Chris the lead singer was nervous. It would have been nicer to hear these guys do something like Up On The Roof or a song that was similar something that would let them sing separately and together instead of having just one lead. Simon agreed that there were pitch issues but said he really liked the guys and they need to work really hard as he doesnt want them to go out.

Finally Leonna arrived on stage and sang Ill be there It was almost flawless! As she finishing singing she burst into tears aww she was nervous.
The judges were in awe they all said she was great vocally but Louis warned her not to give it the Marias all the time and wiggle her voice around. Sharon said she should dress and perform more like her age and Simon, well Simon said that the other judges comments were irrelevant! Its very rare in this country to find someone like you because you are special! I know how nervous you were, you were fantastic. Congratulations. OK Simon, so you liked her we gettit!

Whos Out?

The tension mounted as each contestant was saved. Robert leapt around the stage and grabbed Sharon he was so pleased to be back next week. Louis himself looked shocked when the McDonald Brothers went through and they were his act! Two left in the sing off, The Unconventionals and Dionne. What a shocker. Dionne was great! Come on Joe Public get your head together and vote! Personally I think The Unconventionals would be fantastic in their own stage show. They were great, but in a different way - someone snap em up!

It was up to the judges
Louis stayed faithful to The Unconventionals, Sharon to Dionne. Casting vote to Simon Going out, The Unconventionals.

Check out next weeks show on ITV1. Its gonna be a corker as Rod the Mod joins the fun!
