The high and mighty actor Ben Affleck has spoken publicly about his disdain for the media invasion of celebrities� lives.

While at the Venice Film Festival, Affleck compared himself to George Reeves, the original Superman, whom Affleck is portraying in a new film called �Hollywoodland�.

Reeves found fame as Superman in the US TV series �The Adventures of Superman� but was typecast and failed to find any other work; he was found dead from a single gunshot wound and was assumed to have committed suicide.

Speaking at the festival Affleck said: "Sometimes an audience can conflate an actor's life with the character he's playing. More and more, people are paying attention to actors' private lives - even the most mundane aspects of their private lives. Movies become commercial breaks in the soap opera of actors' lives.

"There are some things I understand about George Reeves' life because of the kind of life I have. I feel I can relate to the guy,"

"I feel connected to him and I understand him. To audiences, George was the Man of Steel. There was more to him than that and that frustrated him, and that's what I can understand.�

After high profile romances with Jennifer Lopez and Gwyneth Paltrow Affleck is now married to fellow actress Jennifer Garner; they have one daughter Violet.

Ben, since you choose to sit in the front row of Fenway Park in the best seats in the house, your exposure with your wife to the cameras is well orchestrated. Hereâ€™s a way to avoid the spotlight: spend more time taking acting lessons and less time living off the vapor trails of success from the â€™Good Will Huntingâ€ days. You were awful in â€Sum of all Fearsâ€ â€Gigliâ€ and Surviving Christmasâ€. You have Jennifer Garner because you are rich. But hardly talented. Look where Damon is now.

this is how the scenario always ends up. you wonâ€™t see him at fenway right now, cos his team is done, and the more I think about it, he is done too. he feels connected to george reeves because both of their careers are dead.

Ben, your personal life is pretty much an open book. Iâ€™ve lost count of all the coffee runs you made with your pregnant â€celebrityâ€ wife...perhaps you should have invested some of your money in a special coffee maker and made the coffee at home (thatâ€™s what you call living low-key); your very public appearances at Fenway Park sitting in the ownerâ€™s box for the whole world to see just screams â€™look at me, Iâ€™m Ben Affleck.â€™ I could continue but I think you get the drift.
