Jack Black is to present this year�s MTV VMAs and is promising to bring his �thunder� to the New York event.

Following his co-hosting of 2002�s Movie Awards Black will bring his particular brand of comedy to the ceremony which takes place on August 31.

"My plan is to bring the thunder," Black said in a MTV statement. "I've got my top men working on it as we speak, in my thunder laboratory. Radio City Music Hall will never be the same."

Black will be joined on the night by performers including Beyonce, Ludacris, Justin Timberlake, The Killers and Panic! At The Disco.
