Heather Mills McCartney has been told be her very expensive lawyers to stay out for the spotlight and not do anything that that could be accused of being a stunt as she and Sir Paul McCartney gear up for divorce proceedings.

However, desperate for some fresh air, Mills took to her bike with a huge minder in tow for a cycle on Brighton�s beach front yesterday.

Friends of Mills have spoke out about her distress over her split from Macca claiming that she is devastated by the way things have turned out.

A friend told the Star: �Heather�s trying to get on with her life but is being attacked from all sides. She just cannot understand why people seem to hate her so much.

�People appear to forget she�s a disabled mum who is devoted to her daughter and would be absolutely devastated if she lost custody.

�Heather has spoken to her lawyers and they�ve basically told her to keep her head down and say nothing.�

However, Mills will not be happy to find out the sister of her ex-husband Alfie Karmal has described her as a �control freak.�

Dianna Karmal spoke to the Mirror and claimed that Mills was a chameleon who created a specific persona for the man she was with at the time.

She claims that the animals loving vegetarian used to enjoy eating meat and wearing fur coats prior to meeting McCartney.

Dianna said: �She is like a chameleon. She draws in men making them believe she is their perfect dream woman. Then she gets more demanding, bored and moves on.

�She only became a vegetarian after meeting Paul. She loved meat. And her anti-fur stance in laughable. She used to wear her mum�s fur coat. She creates a persona for herself to fit the situation.

�Heather almost morphed into Linda McCartney to hook Paul in, wore less make-up, increased her charity work and idolised him. But now she has what she always set out to get. Money, fame and VIP status.�

�People are very expendable to Heather. She�ll move on from Paul quite easily.

�Once she moves on she completely changes. She�s left behind the persona of Paul�s wife and now she�s the hard done by ex. She�s capable of doing anything to get what she wants.�

So how far will she go to get Macca�s millions?
