Madonna Invites Pope To Come See Her Concert

Madonna has invited Pope Benedict XVI to her Confessions tour, after the Catholic leader called for the singer to be ex-communicated.

The Pope believes Madonnas performance is blasphemous because she appears in one section crucified on a diamante-studded cross although the controversial singer has previously claimed that Jesus would understand.

Speaking on behalf of The Pope, Ersilio Cardinal Tonino said yesterday, This concert is a blasphemous challenge to the faith and a profanation of the cross. She should be ex-communicated. To crucify herself during the concert in the city of Popes and martyrs is an act of open hostility.

However, an unrepentant Madonnas spokesperson, Liz Rosenberg tells the New York Daily News, I think the Pope would enjoy the show and would applaud her performance. He has an open invitation to see for himself the eloquence and beauty that Madonna expresses for humanity while performing her poignant song Live To Tell.

Well that's alright then. Wonder what night he's planning on popping along?
