Wayne Rooney Distraught At Memorabilia Theft

Wayne Rooney is distraught after thieves burgled dozens of England caps and a England World Cup shirt from his parents house.

Thieves took the items as well as his Manchester United FA Cup Final shirt and his 2002 BBC Young Sports Personality Of The Year award from the house in Sandfield Park, Liverpool which was left unoccupied as Rooneys parents holidayed.

His brothers discovered the theft when they checked up on the ransacked house on Saturday night, and Wayne was said to be distraught after the news was broken to him.

A friend tells the Daily Mirror, The trophies, shirts and medals are priceless and mean a huge amount to Wayne mean a huge amount to the family.

Waynes mum and dad are so proud of what hes achieved and theyre all heartbroken that its all been pinched.

His dad has been meticulous in keeping every certificate, medal and trophy Waynes ever won since his schooldays.

The worst thing is knowing there is no street value to most of it and the thieves wont be able to shift it.

Police have appealed to people to keep a look out for the items being offered in local pubs or on the internet.
