Audioslave singer Chris Cornell has outed himself as the shock choice for the new James Bond theme tune artist.
The rocker has told a Finnish newspaper he has written and performed the Casino Royale theme tune, which will see the debut of the rough-and-ready Daniel Craig as the British superspy.
The former Soundgarden frontman says, I haven't seen the new Bond fully, because it is still being edited, but I have seen several clips of it. Absolutely amazing movie. Very different than earlier Bonds."
Unless Cornell is telling porkies, he will be the first male to provide a Bond theme tune since the thinking womans pop band A-Ha gave us The Living Daylights in 1987, and will no doubt be a marked improvement on Madonnas risible Die Another Day in 2002.
Electro-poppers Goldfrapp had previously been strongly linked with the gig.
