Argentina hammered out a warning to the rest of the world yesterday as they completely thrashed Serbia & Montenegro 6-0, producing the performance of the tournament so far.
Now second favourites behind Brazil, Argentina - potentially England's quarter-final opponents - saw two goals from Maxi Rodriguez, and one each from Esteban Cambiasso, Hernan Crespo, Carlos Tevez, and Lionel Messi, reports the Daily Star.
Cheered on by Diego Maradonna, captain of the 1986 World Cup-winning team, Argentina showed themselves as serious contenders for glory in Germany.
Maxi Rodriguez said: "It was an incredible performance but we have to win the next game too. Our aim now is to beat the Netherlands and get the most points possible."
