�American Idol�s Chris Daughtrey has turned down the offer of becoming lead singer for successful rock band Fuel.
Daughtrey was offered the position as almost immediately after being voted off the TV show and it was thought he would accept.
Speaking to The Charlotte Observer this weekend he said of his future career plans: "I'm going to be doing my own thing,"
Daughtrey is committed to the �American idol� show which is currently touring North America he will announce his solo career plans over the next few months.
Could he and Taylor Hicks be battling it out in the charts this autumn?
