American Idol Winner Taylor Hicks' Pot Bust

American Idol winner Taylor Hicks feared for his future in the show when producers discovered he was once charged with drug offences.

Hicks, 29 - who scooped top prize in the TV talent show this week - was arrested in 1998 for marijuana possession and driving under the influence of the drug after his car was stopped by a state trooper in Alabama, where he was attending college.

However, according to police reports, the case was delayed for two years before finally being dismissed in 2000 for �want of prosecution�, according to Star magazine.
