After the film adaptation of Dan Browns best selling novel The Da Vinci Code became a box office smash, studio bosses are now keen to get to work on the film version of Browns other best seller, Angels & Demons.
The book once again features Robert Langdon as its central character, this time battling to save the Vatican from a near certain catastrophe.
According to Variety, Tom Hanks and director Ron Howard have yet to sign up for the new film but Sony has approached a writer to adapt the book for film.
The development of the film is still in its preliminary stages but it is hoped that the same team who worked on The Da Vinci Code will also be working on the new film.
The Da Vinci Code became the second most successful film opening in history taking $224million at the international box office.
The film topped both the North American and Canadian box office but could not beat the success of last years Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith which took a whopping $253million on its opening weekend.
