King Kong actress Naomi Watts has signed up to appear in a new film about the seedy side of London life.

�Eastern Promises� a David Cronenberg film will tell the story of a midwife from a London hospital who inadvertently becomes involved in the Russian criminal underworld after trying to find out more about a 14 year old patient who dies giving birth.

Watts� character tries to find the girls parents when she becomes embroiled within the Russian crime community.

�Lord of the Rings� star Viggio Mortesen will also star in the film, shooting is scheduled to kick off in London this winter.

Maybe this role will win her that Oscar.
