David Blaine has failed to break the world record for holding his breath under water.
After residing in a eight foot water filled sphere for seven days Blaine was shackled to the sphere before he attempted to hold his breath for nine minutes.
However, seven minutes into the stunt Blaine began convulsing and divers were forced to free him from the chains and pull his free of the water.
According to the BBC, after coming round, Blaine addressed the hundreds of fans who had flocked to see his record attempt saying: "This was a very difficult week but you all made it fly by with your strong spirit, your energy. Thank you so much everybody,"
Blaine received medical treatment earlier this week after it became clear he was suffering serious skin damage from his prolonged stay under water.
His spokesperson Pat Smith said of Blaines medical condition: "They're worried about loss of dexterity,"
"There is considerable concern about both his hands and his muscle tone."
What about his mental health?????
