BBC Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans has splashed out 1.5million on his very own pub.
The self confessed booze hound has reportedly bought the Mulberry in Surrey after looking over the property several times in the last few weeks.
However, staff at the pub are gutted as Evans is laying off all the existing staff there.
The current land lord, James Mason, who has only been in his role for six weeks, moaned about his predicament to the Daily Star.
He said: It is bad news for me that Chris has bought the pub.
We had an inkling this might be happening because Chris has been in and around the pub about half a dozen times in the past couple of weeks.
But now we have had it confirmed and we have been told to look for other jobs, it is disappointing.
Im sure he is going to enjoy it here. It is a lovely pub. It is a great place but it is definitely not a drinkers pub. Still, maybe Chris will change things.
A source close to the DJ added: He is very excited about the purchase and Im sure hell take some of his showbiz pals there for long weekends, enjoying good food and a pint or ten of beer.
Will he ever leave the place???
