A producer has launched legal proceedings against The White Stripes claiming he deserves a cut of their early royalties.
Jim Diamond who co-produced the duos eponymous debut and was sound mixer on their album De Stijl claims he was central in creating the bands sound.
A trial date has been set for June 12 with Jack and Meg strongly denying the claims. They say they paid him an agreed sum of $35 an hour for his time at the studio.
The White Stripes attorney Bert Deixler said: It is a meritless case which will be defended with vigor," reports billboard.
While Diamond is taking things equally seriously, saying: "It's not just about fun and games," Diamond said. "I understand this is a business."
