Oscar nominated film Brokeback Mountain has been banned from all cinemas in the Bahamas.
The Bahamian Plays and Films Control Board decided that the film could not be shown as it depicted "extreme homosexuality, nudity and profanity".
It also stated that the film was of "no value for the Bahamian public".
The decision has sparked outrage from gay rights groups who , according to the BBC, consider it a farce that a single group of people should "provide the moral compass for the entire country".
The film that centres on the relationship between two male cowboys has also been banned in China.
A cinema director from the Bahamas, Philip Burrows, is appalled by the lack of personal choice governing the films that cinema goers are allowed to see.
He said: You have a group of people who are telling grown men and women what they can and cannot watch.
"I cannot understand denying people the right to make their own choices."
It is the 21st century, isnt it?
