Former �Coronation Street� actress Lynne Perrie who played Ivy Tilsley from 1979 to 1994 has died aged 75.

Perrie died on Friday evening after suffering from a stroke with her husband and son by her bedside.

A Granada spokeswoman said: "Lynne played one of the wonderful characters on the Street who will be remembered for years to come.

"Our sympathy goes to her family at this sad time."

Her former co-star Liz Dawn who player Vera Duckworth said of her old friend�s death: "I'm very saddened to hear of the news. Me and Lynne go way back. Even before Coronation Street we worked together on the club circuit. She was always full of life and great fun to work with.�

Johnny Briggs who plays Mike Baldwin on the soap said of his former colleague and friend: �Whenever I worked with her she was 100% professional. She was well loved and will be sorely missed, especially by my daughter Stephanie, because she was her godmother.

"She was one of the most generous people I have ever met. She would give a tramp �10 rather than walk past them in the street.�

Quite a northern lass.
