Did Shakira Lip Sync On The Voice? Fans Accuse Star As Two Acts Are Axed From The Competition

It was a jam packed show last night

Last night saw the first live finals of the current season of The Voice and according to the viewers watching the show, there was nothing live about Shakira's performance of her song Empire.

Twitter was abuzz with allegations that the Hips Don't Lie hitmaker lip synched throughout her performance as one fan noted: "Why did @shakira #lipsync on @nbcthevoice tonight? How disappointing #thevoice."

But they weren't the only one to notice that Shakira may have not been singing live. Commenting on the show's name, one viewer posted on the social networking site: "@NBCTheVoice @shakira Why would a show called "The Voice" have a coach perform and lip sync??"

Expressing their disappointment at not hearing Shakira sing live, another fan noted: "I won't lie.. I wanted to see @shakira perform her new song on @NBCTheVoice cuz she's great live singer then she lip syncs .. Disappointed !", whilst another added:

"How u let them do that 2 ya @shakira? U judge LIVE SHOWS & u let @NBCTheVoice make u lip sink? I love u but...disgraceful! So disappointed."

"Insulting on a show with such great singers like @NBCTheVoice @CarsonDaly that @shakira lip synchs. Sing live or not at all! Your team does!", commented another annoyed viewer.

Aside from the disappointment around Shakira's performance, viewers saw two talented acts leave after becoming victims of a double elimination.

As the acts were whittled down and told that they were safe for another week, Dani Moz, Tess Boyer - both on Shakira's team - and TJ Wilkins found themselves facing the prospect of heading home.

Showing her annoyance and having two of her acts in the bottom three, Shakira told them: "I love you girls. I just want to thank you for everything you’ve given me. You’ve been so amazing to me all this time and I love you both.

"You started out as singers but now you’ve become artists. If you keep at it I truly believe you will be unstoppable. I wish you the best of luck."

However, as host Carson Daly went on to announce who out of the bottom three had been saved by the live public vote, Shakira found herself losing only one act as Tess was given a pass into next week.

With Tess safe, it was the end of the road for TJ and Dani who left the show last night.
