8Happy Mondays dancer come mascot Bez has become a record breaker after leading the world�s biggest ever maracas ensemble.

The baggy legend led 407 people in the bout of maraca playing madness but he doesn�t expect to hold the record for too long.

He told the Sun: "We set the world record, although no doubt it will be getting broken left, right and centre now we've bothered to do it. I was freezing before we got going, but shaking my maracas actually warmed me up.�

He added: "My advice to anyone wanting to break this record now is to wait until a nice hot summer's day... then you might get a few more people turning up."

The record attempt was part of the launch of XFM�s new Manchester radio station.
