Is This Racist? Nick Cannon Prompts Backlash After 'Whiteface' Stunt

Nick Cannon knows how to push the boundaries as a comedian but he has taken it a step too far this time after donning 'whiteface' on the cover of his new album titled 'White People Party Music,' but fans shouldn't expect an apology any time soon as he he has already defended his actions against racism claims.

The America's Got Talent host gave fans a shock when he unveiled the cover for his next album which shows him pulling a silly pose while transformed into a white man wearing glasses.

After a flurry of complaints from offended fans, Nick went on a Twitter rampage hitting back at the critics and responding to his supporters who find the movement funny.

When one quipped: “Brothas just trying to keep a white man down!,” Nick replied: “Power to the people LOL.” When another remarked: “Dat s**t funny. Did u perm your pubes too? ?,” Nick joked back: “I was thinking about it! Lol.”

The 33-year-old was asked by several followers what it's like for him now as a white man,' to which he responded: “It's Freaking Awesome!!!” and to another: “I'm no longer afraid of the Police!! LOL.”

With many referring to his transformation as 'whiteface' following on from the term 'blackface,' Nick seemed oblivious to the term which he appears to have pioneered, stating: “Hold up… What the f#ck is “White Face”??? Did I just create a new term??? Nice!!! LOL.”

Directly hitting out at the controversy he's caused, Nick later tweeted: “It's funny how people take themselves so seriously. People love drama! We feed off of it. Just relax and have fun!!”

He continued: “Damn I didn't know it was going to be this hard being White! ... I'm exhausted with all this "privilege" LOL #WhitePeopleProblems."

“I agree! Let's march!! Rally up all the other white folks and I'll go get the pick up truck!! Ha! I love this conversation though. It’s showing a lot of people’s true colors… #punintended #wppm woooo!!!” he added.

The comedian also shared a photo of Robert Downey Jr wearing blackface in a movie to prove his point.
