Alec Baldwin's explosive essay on the recent public perception of him has well and truly made its mark today, with all sorts of opinions being spouted on social media.
The former 30 Rock actor was embroiled in controversy when he allegedly called a photographer a "f****t" during an altercation - which he strongly denies. He has long been an advocate of gay rights - which is why there was such a furore when he called a journalist a "queen".
He also mentions his spat with Shia LaBeouf and his ongoing unrest with the media in his piece.

Mr. Baldwin, if you want to convince me you aren't a bigot, don't lead with the word "Tranny." http://t.co/Ttv13QEfsA— Andy Mientus (@andymientus) February 24, 2014
Alec Baldwin, can you not have such a lengthy breakdown on a Monday morning please? :(— Daniel Sperling (@DSDS1989) February 24, 2014
I'm Alec Baldwin. Alec Baldwin wants privacy, so here's a controversial 5,000-word essay about Alec Baldwin by Alec Baldwin. - Alec Baldwin— Rex Huppke (@RexHuppke) February 24, 2014

Having worked with Alec Baldwin, I don't think he's homophobic. But I also don't think he's ever examined his own life, speech, or behavior.— Mara Wilson (@MaraWritesStuff) February 24, 2014
Maybe I should amend it: I never heard Alec Baldwin say anything outright homophobic. But he did seem the kind to bring out slurs when angry— Mara Wilson (@MaraWritesStuff) February 24, 2014
Hard enough for writers to get published online & @NYMag wastes decent content space on Alec Baldwin. Absurd.— Jaclyn Munson (@OnwardnFword) February 24, 2014
Shia LaBeouf must be so psyched with how prominently he was featured in Alec Baldwin's bullshit article.— Eric Pope (@MrPope) February 24, 2014
In @nymag, Alec Baldwin calls Anderson Cooper "the self-appointed Jack Valenti of gay media." Reminds me of Mike Ovitz's "gay mafia" screed.— katierosman (@katierosman) February 24, 2014
Alec Baldwin is proudly Irish, yet completely unfamiliar with the concept of an "Irish Goodbye".— Allison Castellano (@allimuffin) February 24, 2014
I wish #AlecBaldwin well in quitting public life. Sadly, our entire culture has resigned from private life.— donal lardner ward (@donnyward) February 24, 2014
Alec Baldwin has complicated karma. #thatisall— NobleStone Photo (@kimeleon365) February 24, 2014
Dear Alec Baldwin: Stop being such a Shia LaDouche. Learn to be gracious and humble and know when to STFU. This drama queen shit is boring.— Pie Francis (@littlepielady) February 24, 2014
